Project Description
Tooth Extraction
It is a dental professionals job to save teeth from damage. However, in some cases, a tooth sustains so much damage due to decay or periodontal disease that it cannot be saved. In a case like this, tooth extraction is recommended.
Our dentist, Dr. Katie Reardon Skinner, performs extractions when restorative treatments aren’t enough to save a tooth. Extractions are sometimes necessary if you:
- Have severe tooth decay
- Have serious gum (periodontal) disease that can affect oral hard and soft tissues if left untreated
- Have impacted wisdom teeth
- Are undergoing an orthodontic procedure that requires removal of a tooth
Safety And Comfort
Legacy Dental Health offers extractions as a potential treatment to help patients deal with dental problems. Postoperative instructions are always discussed prior to tooth extraction and all questions are answered. With the help of safe and effective anesthetics and sedatives, we are able to provide a virtually painless extraction experience to every patient.
After Care
Diligent care of a recent extraction site is necessary to ensure proper healing. Always follow the instructions provided by your dentist to avoid infection or other complications. Applying a cold compress on the cheek near the extraction site can help to reduce any potential swelling. Avoid smoking, drinking through straws and vigorous brushing or rinsing after the extraction to allow the site to heal quickly.
Our dentist, Dr. Katie Reardon Skinner, provides high-quality care to our patients. As it is our job to help save teeth, we offer alternative treatments to extraction whenever possible. Our dental team will inform you about the procedure and answer any questions so that you have peace of mind before the start of the procedure. As always, we perform extractions in a clean and hygienic environment to ensure patient safety.
