Tooth Replacement

There is a common misconception that people only lose teeth as they get older. There are, however, many different ways to lose your tooth regardless of age. Some of them involve gum disease, tooth decay, and dental trauma.

Losing your teeth—even only one tooth can often have significant consequences:

  • Difficulties in eating & nutrient deficiency – This is a major consequence of having missing teeth.
  • Depending on where your missing tooth is located, you may have to change your diet to accommodate your lack of teeth, which can then lead to vitamin and nutrient deficiency.
  • Speech problems – People with missing teeth often have trouble enunciating certain words. If you have missing teeth, you might also make “whistling” sounds when you speak, or spit when you talk.
  • Changes in appearance – A missing tooth or unsightly gaps are major turn-offs, especially in the long run. Missing teeth can affect the structure of the face dramatically, often creating an aged look.
  • Lower self-esteem – Tooth loss has serious psychological, social, and emotional consequences. It affects your quality of life, as well as self-image, and self-esteem.

You don’t have to suffer these consequences. Here at Legacy Dental Health, you have a range of options to replace your missing teeth and restore that gorgeous smile.

Dentures

We provide dentures, which are a removable replacement for missing teeth. We offer two types: 1) complete dentures and 2) partial dentures. This dental replacement fits snugly over the gums to eliminate potential problems caused by gaps.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges, as its name suggests, “bridge” the gap created by missing teeth. It is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap, as well as a replacement tooth called a “pontic”. Much like dentures, this one is low-risk, affordable, and time-tested treatment for missing teeth.

Implant Supported Prostheses

This is essentially the replacement teeth attached to posts placed on top of the jaw. This teeth replacement option is ideal for patients who are unable to wear conventional dentures or those who have minimal bone height.

Our team can help you choose which one of these can best fit your situation. Call us today for a consultation on tooth replacement in Sioux Falls with Katie Reardon DDS.
